Hummingbird please fly away

Our back room has big windows and doors and lots of bird activity.
As I was working this little chap hit the window hard with a thud.
I ran out there to see his little body on the ground...

I had to get pictures of him cause really when do you get opportunities
like this...I  clutched it gently in my hand and ran into the house with him...
so totally dumb as he could of flown off  and well I wouldn’t
be writing this right now I’d still be trying to catch him.

the tiniest feet you’ve ever seen.

little eyelids!

glowing feathers...just glorious.

well of course I was happy while having this little sweetness in my
hand, I knew in my heart he probably wouldn’t make it..
We have birds hit our windows and most don’t...
So I came back in, loaded these pictures and starting writing...
Looked out where I placed him in one of my husband’s sculptures...

Happy DAYS!  Gone!!
I breathe a sigh of relief and feel like celebrating.

I'm so glad he made it...we have a lot of windows too & tons of birds so I know what you mean. I hate it when we lose one. So nice that you got the pics. He's gorgeous.

Hurray! I'm glad the wee one was only temporarily stunned. What magnificent plumage! It must have been like holding a precious jewel in your hand.

Oh Cynthia ..... how wonderful. What beautiful colours and they really are so tiny aren't they ? One of my happiest experiences when we were visiting the States was to watch the hummingbirds...... so pleased that he flew away. We have had a thrush in the garden with a broken wing for at least 6 months. He comes to see us whenever we are in the garden. I always thought that an injured bird would be attacked by other birds but our thrush seems to be getting on OK !! Your hummingbird must have just been a little dazed !! XXXX

How precious is that little chap. I'm very lucky to have a pair of blue tits that return to the nesting box outside my window every year, they're such a joy.
